UI DESIGN CERTIFICATE

Consumer Goods eCommerce Website

Course Objective

This career accelerator certificate provided me with hands-on experience that was designed to help prepare me for a career in user interface design. I gained an in-depth understanding of user interface design guidelines, practices, and methodologies through lectures, discussions, demonstrations, critics, and workshops.

Brainstorming & Defining

The challenge during this design phase was to research three different brands that I might want to work on for this project. I went with Urban Decay, Tarte, and H&M. When I decided on Urban Decay, I created a project brief that covered the company and its core values, the brand itself, the target audience, the current website and its challenges, as well as opportunities to improve the website while remaining true to the Urban Decay brand. Later, I looked at Urban Decay’s competitors to see if there were any overlapping concepts that worked well.

Building a Task Flow & Creating Wireframes

After the research phase was completed, it was time to create design interactions. I created three concepts to present for feedback in order to determine what worked well and what needed to be improved. Overall, one design concept stood out, but some key features required improvement. After a revision, it was time to create the task flow and wireframes.

Prototype

After going through wireframes and high-fidelity mockups, we have the final prototype for both desktop and mobile. Urban Decay has a fun edgy makeover with this new design that really resonates with their brand.
